2021: The Year in Review

Following one of the most unprecedented years in recent memory, Platform Science used our experiences in 2020 as tools to shape our ongoing mission to make transportation smart. While this year provided its fair share of unique challenges, we can confidently say it was also one of our most successful years to date.

From new partnerships and products to conferences, awards, and more, we’re grateful for all the opportunities we’ve had to transform the technology that keeps transportation moving. And with a new year just around the corner, we’d like to take a final look back at 2021 and the moments that made this year special. Let’s go!

Platform Science x U.S. Xpress, Inc.

Platform Science started this year strong, winning the IoT Breakthrough award for the M2M Vehicle Telematics Solution of the Year.

We kept it going when ABI Research named Platform Science one of the ten hot tech innovators and disruptors in supply chain technologies.

In February, we announced our partnership with U.S. Xpress, Inc., one of the nation's largest truckload carriers by revenue and an industry leader in fleet innovation.

Later that month, we added the driver-focused health and wellness application Rolling Strong—a favorite of our partners at Mesilla Valley Transportation—to our Apps + Integrations catalog.

In March, we received the North American Customer Value Leadership Award from Frost & Sullivan for our commitment to providing quality service to our customers.

Platform Science | Werner Enterprises x Vector demo

We marched into April with the Best in Show demo at the FreightWaves Enterprise Fleet Summit, a major honor from the transportation industry’s top leaders and entrepreneurs.

April continued to shower good news, with The American Business Awards awarding Platform Science the Bronze medal in the Stevie Transportation Company of the Year category.

In May, we took home another Best in Show award—this time for our Werner Enterprises x Vector demo, which we debuted at the FreightWaves Live @ Home virtual event.

Our summer got off to a hot start with the launch of our updated website, which received a complete makeover from our Creative and Marketing teams.

Platform Science x Western Express

In June, Western Express announced its plans to deploy Platform Science’s full technology suite in the fleet’s trucks—an exciting partnership in the making.

San Diego Business Journal named our CTO and co-founder Jake Fields one of the 2021 Next Top Business Leaders Under 40, a noteworthy honor for young professionals in the San Diego community.

In August, we announced our partnership with E-SMART, a leading developer of innovative fleet software solutions designed to improve vehicle safety.

September shifted into high gear with the McLeod Software User Conference in Dallas, one of our favorite in-person events of the year.

More big news from Texas: In September, we announced our partnership with Stevens Transport, North America’s premier temperature-controlled truckload carrier.

In October, we updated our Apps + Integrations catalog with a full suite of new tools, giving enterprise fleets, third-party developers, partners, and prospects access to the industry’s most comprehensive source of connected vehicle solutions.

Our CEO and co-founder Jack Kennedy joined industry thought leaders at Prologis’ inaugural Breaking New Ground event, a virtual experience highlighting transportation companies’ solutions for supply chain challenges.

Platform Science celebrated the growth of trucking at the American Trucking AssociationsMCE 2021 in Nashville, TN, an exciting event in the heart of Music City.

Virtual Vehicle Launch

We kicked off November with one of our biggest announcements of the year: the arrival of Virtual Vehicle, the first open OEM platform for fleet management, developed in collaboration with Daimler Trucks North America.

Hot on the heels of his Prologis appearance, Jack joined Fox Business Network anchor Neil Cavuto on Cavuto: Coast to Coast to discuss Platform Science, Virtual Vehicle, and the supply chain.

While we wish we could’ve met everyone in person this year, the FreightWaves F3 Virtual Experience was a success both for the industry and Platform Science—and a perfect event to wrap up the year.

FreightTech 25 - 2022

After being selected for the FreightTech 100, we were thrilled to rank #2 in the FreightWaves 2022 FreightTech 25 Awards, Platform Science’s second year in a row among the industry’s top 5 companies.

And there you have it: Another year of Platform Science in the books. Thank you to everyone who joined us on our journey this year. We couldn’t have done it without you, and we look forward to moving forward together into 2022—and beyond!
