Maps are provisioned on tablets during setup and contain the latest route information on day one. Fleets choose update times that work best for them and can toggle options remotely through our app configurations. Since map updates often take up large amounts of time and storage, we enable updates over WiFi for stronger connections.
We work closely with our routing partners to ensure our algorithms have a high penalty on FC5 (functional class type 5) roads and help steer drivers away from low-density roads—even if it adds a few minutes to their journey. With Avoids & Favors, we have the ability to specify which roads to stay away from and let the engine handle the rest.
Road restrictions are passed down as map content on the current version of the map. To ensure you have the most recent restrictions, we recommend setting up a cadence for performing your map updates. Road restrictions change over time, so updating maps is important.
Truck parameters—whether set up remotely through the app configuration or by using our Route Builder to adjust settings—are key for providing safe routes. Known restrictions are considered on route generation and are based on factors such as weight, height, width, length, and hazmat settings.
Our app configuration file enables you to specify your trucks' attributes, as well as settings you’d like to maintain for all your drivers. Settings will update on the polling interval determined by the admin and can be managed for groups of drivers by setting up various configuration files.
Custom routes can be passed through third-party apps like Workflow. Based on the quality of the information passed in, Navigation will generate a route following directions for specific lat/lon pairs.
