When the time came to upgrade their fleet technology, we were proud to deliver a solution for improving their driver experience. Driving a better in-cab experience

The folks at Werner know a better driving experience starts with the right technology. That’s why they asked their team what they thought of the tools they use every day. Werner’s drivers and back-office staff described their previous systems and processes as outdated, confusing, and difficult to follow. Submitting data was a challenge using screens that were hard to read, and programs required an instruction manual to operate. It was clearly time for an upgrade.

And so began the search for a new telematics provider. At the time, “​​We didn’t even know who Platform Science was,” said Werner’s IT Project Manager, Joel Christensen. Then “someone had mentioned the work [we] were doing,” and Platform Science became a contender in Werner’s quest for best-in-class fleet technology. We soon discovered a mutual passion for industry innovation and were thrilled when Werner invited us to be their new telematics and fleet management platform.

At the cutting EDGE of innovation

During the search for a new provider, Werner’s VP and CTO, Danny Lilley, learned “some solutions were unwilling to work with” their “homegrown, custom-built TMS system.” The system—Werner EDGE—was developed in 2020 to further Werner’s commitment to innovation in transportation and provides “a platform built by a carrier for carriers.”

Using our platform, Werner integrated a suite of PS tools—including Workflow and Hours of Service (HOS)—with Werner EDGE to deliver an in-cab experience tailored to their drivers. They also created Drive Werner Pro—an app designed to provide 24/7 access to trip details, load statuses, and more—to ensure their drivers are always connected with all the information they need to keep America moving.
